NFA Board Activities
Just over a year ago my term as chair of the National Flute Association New Music Advisory Committee ended—and my term as a Board member began! Granted, my NMA work continues as there are three projects that I offered to see through to completion, but my new focus as a Board member has been very interesting and rewarding work.
This year we are doing our strategic planning for 2020-2023. Through the massive amounts of wonderful progress that we made at the convention in Salt Lake City last August, we saw how immensely valuable it would be to gather in-person again to undertake the next phases of the process.
So—several Executive Committee and Board members gathered in Chicago for a day-and-a-half of meetings, joined by Executive Director Kelly Jocius.
I think President Joanna Bassett summarized it best in the email that went out to the NFA membership:
“In this season of thankfulness, I am grateful for an open-minded and engaged group who cleared their schedules and generously gathered for 1-1/2 days earlier this week in Chicago. Under the dynamic leadership of NFA Strategic Planning Chair Nicole Molumby, we wove our way through M&M’s, Skittles, and post-it notes. Our current Strategic Plan has guided us through 2016-19, and we are now focused on an active plan for the next three years of the NFA.”
Thanks to this crew for their hard work and a wonderful time in Chicago!
